The point where your thigh connects with your leg – The Knee – is an important part of your lower extremity. This part of the body that bends your lower extremity makes walking, sitting, running, and basically activities of daily living easy.

Have you tried walking, sitting, or even climbing up the stairs with unbended knee or stiff knee?? Difficult, right?

Stating that it’s a joint where bones meet, there is sliding and gliding as you bend your knees. Having this kind of movement, the knee needs to have all the cartilage, ligament, muscles, and tendons intact to function normally without pain.

What is in the knee?

  • Cartilage is the soft connective tissue that cushions bones where they meet in a joint. Meniscus is a cartilage found in between the surfaces of the knee.
  • Ligaments (Anterior cruciate and posterior cruciate ligament) is a band of tough and flexible connective tissue which connects two bones or cartilages or holds together a joint.
  • Tendons is flexible but inelastic cord that connects your muscle to your bone.
  • Muscle is the tissue that contracts to produce movements. It is also the one responsible for maintaining the position of your body.

Here is a list of conditions that may affect the knee.
